Robert Street Lift Bridge
Saint Paul, Minnesota Pen and Ink - 2017
“This bridge is one of the most recognized Chicago Great Western lift bridges around… It stands high and mighty above the Mississippi River. The first bridge here was a swing bridge, but that was replaced by this bridge in 1913. The main lift span was built by Waddell and Harrington lift bridge company (1913), one of the most recognized lift bridge companies of the 20th century. In 1925, the bridge was raised 16 feet to tie into the rail lines on the north bank. The main span has 105' high towers. In 1925, the Robert Street Bridge was built, very carefully around the bridge.”
